Jan. 8th, 2014 01:42 pmPadma, I have been the recipient of excellent news by owl from my Father! When I told him about Ravenclaw Corner and the studious and diligent example we are trying to set for others who could benefit from such leadership, he was much pleased. However satisfying it is to win his approval, I could not have anticipated the delightful intelligence just received: one of his old Ravenclaw cronies, a boffin of the first water who has been rather successful in trade, has made a substantial gift to Hogwarts. Not only is it earmarked for increasing the holdings of the library, but the donor has specified that he wishes the current top Ravenclaw students to have responsibility for directing ten percent of the gift. We are talking a substantial number of Galleons, here, too!
We shall have to plot! Yes, we shall!
Seriously, I am in transports.

on 2014-01-09 02:14 am (UTC)I asked Madam Pince to let me look through her catalog and made some notes. She also gave me the publisher's catalogs with the new titles that came out last year, and the advance supplement for spring.
We should see if there are any good texts on Legilimency. I just found out there's a rather prominent one at the school. You'll never guess who!
Are you and Lav off somewhere? A few of us are heading up to see the northern lights before Astronomy but since we'll be talking about them all during class we could get cocoa and look over the list.

on 2014-01-09 02:32 am (UTC)I've perused a few articles in recent Astronomy journals -- since my internship the Guild is kind enough to let me subscribe at the members' rate! -- and have gleaned the titles of several texts pertaining to locational magic with emphasis on Arithmantic analyses, so we'll want those too, no doubt. And there must be something splendid about History we can obtain. Wasn't there something just out that you were speaking about recently?
Lav is off somewhere doing something mysterious. She would not vouchsafe the merest hint as to what, but apparently it involves considerable giggling. So I shall join you post-haste. Cocoa it is.

on 2014-01-09 02:43 am (UTC)History? Well, Blaise wanted to get the book that accompanied that exhibit at the Protector's Collection, on the lore and history of the Founders. I'm sure we could get a copy. But that's probably on Madam Pince's list already, too.
By the way, why have you been speaking like a toff so much lately? You sound more and more like Finch-Fletchley, and I get quite enough of his twaddle at all those revision sessions. Honestly, if he weren't so clever at his studies I'd have chucked him to fend with the other Hufflepuffs ages ago.
