A New Year and New Opportunities!
Jan. 9th, 2014 06:10 pmHogwarts really is the most educational place, is it not?
Let us all strive to make the most of it, whatever opportunities we are given.

Student Excellence: Logistical, Empirical and Noetic Evaluations
RAVENCLAW
Linus Moon - We shall see.
Padma Patil - Obviously quite a strong candidate.
Lares Tamblyn - A bit bloodthirsty, yes? Former member of that unauthorised duelling club. (I heard someone the other day refer to it as the Brotherhood of the Sleeveless Robes, though how some of the girls who participated might take that name is an unknown I would prefer to investigate only when wearing Quidditch padding.) He is someone of whom Professor Vector thinks highly. Serious contender, I feel.
SLYTHERIN
Vincent Crabbe - He's good at Noble Arts, one must give him that. And yet. Also, there is a rumour that the Protectorate Bureau of Standards has a box of rocks labeled "'Dumber Than' reference case," and that they are considering replacing this box with Crabbe.
Greg Goyle - See previous annotation.
Hydra Lestrange - Insufficient data, really, though her parentage suggests we should all be very wary indeed of her abilities. To tell the truth, I hardly know what to think about her. Given recent revelations, I should hesitate to think it anywhere near her even if I did know.
Draco Malfoy - Clearly one of the ones to beat. With OWL results like that, he could easily have been Sorted into Ravenclaw.
Alfred Montague - Not the brightest Lumos out of the wand. Determined, however.
Samantha Montgomery - Padma, if I could roll my eyes any harder I would have sprained them, when I saw she got a pin. She was a Sister of the Sleeveless Robes, but hardly all that notable.
Teddy Nott - I look forward to the earliest test at which I may petrify his sorry carcass and leave him in a rarely frequented location.
Pansy Parkinson - You've got full opinions here already, and I have nothing to add.
Lizzie Stevens - Similar to Montgomery, but with even less staying power. Not worth a thought.
Richard Vaisey - Ah, another member of the Brotherhood of the Sleeveless Robes. He's good-natured enough, for a Slytherin. Always buys a round, very Hail-Fellow-Well-Met, when it's to his advantage. Charming and all that, I suppose. Will certainly be playing to win. Best to take him out early, if possible.
Blaise Zabini - You'd know far more than I.
HUFFLEPUFF
Heph Bobolis - Throws a mean curse. Not always expert at removing one, unfortunately. (He was the one who hit Samuels with Aviculus, in the Brotherhood of the Sleeveless Robes. Hollow bird-bones do not stand up to being hit with a bludger. Merlin, what a thing that was.) Be careful of him.
Zach Smith - Charms is really his only strong suit. Rather feckless, if you ask me.
GRYFFINDOR
Katie Bell - She certainly has physical stamina, but my analysis of her House's Quidditch performance this year suggests that captaincy is not her strong suit, which in turn may imply that strategy is not her strong suit. Nevertheless, don't expect her to be an easy mark.
Seamus Finnigan - You'd know more about him than I. He's a reasonable all-rounder, I suppose.
Cormac McLaggen - Another member of the Brotherhood of the Sleeveless Robes who did not cover himself with glory, but not at all safe to underestimate. Has a bit of a temper. (He does seem to have steadied a bit this term, however, which is all to the good, really.) Nota bene: may have bad memories of that infected curse burn, so it might be possible to unnerve him with similar spells. Hmm?
Dean Thomas - Hmm. Did rather well at CCF, actually. Dark horse.
Ron Weasley - Really, you must be joking. Though I suppose he's got a certain low ginger cunning, plus animal vigour, as they say.

on 2014-01-10 01:11 am (UTC)Are there any areas of Defence on which you think you'd like a refresher? I have got access to some absolutely wiz-nift books that Professor Dolohov steered me towards, and I would be happy to revise with you. What are your current concerns, if any?
