alt_linusI have been cogitating on social dynamics and have come to a conclusion. It's quite possible that I have not been giving Seamus a fair shake for entirely petty reasons. I realise that it's entirely foolish to allow the baser emotions to impede one's judgement, particularly that of jealousy, and particularly in something as long-standing as the friendship between the two of us goes. In short, I believe I have been in error, and most humbly confess this to you, and will amend matters by giving Seamus a fresh start.
After all, why shouldn't you have as many close friends as you like? It's certainly no less than your due as the shining social and academic light that you are! Your charms are abundant enough to shower upon multitudes.
And if by some chance there is something more than friendship going on, then of course I will do my best to be supportive of that as well -- though if you do something rash like departing for Ireland to live in some rustic manorial hall I shall be disconsolate for lack of intellectual discourse unless we send journal messages to each other with considerable frequency. (Fear not, I joke! Well, mostly. However, I assure you, I am quite serious about the supportive bit.)
Also, do you think I've hurt Finnegan's feelings by any of my regrettable hints of minor resentment? I should most like to remedy things if I have done. If you have any suggestions for putting things right, should they need to be put right, I would be most grateful.
